1. What is the SunSmart Program?

The SunSmart Program is designed to protect children from skin cancer. It supports early childhood education and care services, primary schools and out of school hours services across NSW to develop and implement a best-practice sun protection policy.

The “no hat, play in the shade” policy is the minimum safety standard and just the start to encouraging sun-safe behaviours.

2. Is there a cost to be involved in the SunSmart program?

The SunSmart program is FREE! We want all early childhood education and care services, schools and out of school hours services to be able to implement a best-practice sun protection policy and benefit from the resources and information all of our members receive.

3. Can SunSmart send out free sunscreen?

We would love to send out free sunscreen to all of our SunSmart members. However, Cancer Council NSW is a 94% community funded organisation and we, unfortunately, don’t have the capacity to assist schools and services in this way.

We do offer all SunSmart members 20% off on our sunscreens. If you are interested in this offer please email retail@nswcc.org.au to place your order.

4. Can a Cancer Council NSW staff member attend my school or service and do a talk about sun safety?

Generation SunSmart is a great way to become a SunSmart educator yourself. It is an eLearning site that contains modules around skin cancer, being SunSmart and sun protection strategies. They can be completed at your own pace and revisited at any time. Once you have completed all the modules, you’ll be awarded a Generation SunSmart certificate.

5. I would like a SunSmart certificate to display. Where can I get one?

You can download your SunSmart certificate online.
